It's me, Arynn! I freakin love planning and am excited to plan the adventure elopement of your dreams. Let's have some fun!!
What if you could have the beauty of Jay Cooke State Park without saying your vows in front of a crowd of strangers? That’s exactly what A+C wanted for their Minnesota elopement. They wanted the rocky river views and forested landscape of Jay Cooke, but they also wanted their vows to feel private and intentional. As a local Minnesota Elopement planner + photographer, here is how I would plan you a private Jay Cooke State Park elopement.
Let’s back up a sec and talk about this location. Jay Cooke is honestly such a cool place. It gives you stunning views all while being super close to Duluth which is a what I call “bigger” city in Northern, Minnesota. Keep in mind I live on a lake with like 100 people or less, so my version of “big city” might be way different than most, lol.
But this is super nice for elopement couples because you can get really cool pictures while still being close to salons, many restaurants, and a ton of different activities.
You also have a good variety of backdrops here without having to travel too far. You have forests, rocky landscapes, rapids, and a large swinging bridge.
And while Jay Cooke is a popular Minnesota destination, there are ways to plan an elopement that still feels intimate.

This couple wanted a spot that wasn’t as popular on what I would call a popular weekend to visit a state park in Minnesota. But, there are still ways to view the park from different trails that aren’t as popular, and that is what we found. The breeze from the river was perfect for the hot day, and the views surrounding A+C were breathtaking. The rocks, the river, the trees, all of it. What is also nice about this area is it is very dog friendly.

Love that you are planning to elope here, it is stunning! Here are 4 general recommendations to have the best time.
Alright, ready for the whole story? Where do I even start? 🤍 Here it is… let it give you some inspiration.
It’s been a month since I got to spend the day with A+C, and I’ve found myself thinking about their wedding day so many times since. I wanted to share a few of my favorite parts, not just because they were beautiful, but because they meant something.
A&C knew they wanted something small and intimate in a beautiful Minnesota setting. They wanted the feeling of an elopement, but they couldn’t imagine getting married without their closest family there to witness it.
The love between this family was something so special to witness. You could feel how deeply they care for one another in every hug, every laugh, every tear. I’m so grateful they were able to share such an important moment with the people who have meant so much throughout their lives.
One of my favorite parts of their day was their private vow exchange.
Before officially tying the knot, they had a quiet moment together, a first look, some sweet words, and vows shared away from everyone else.
There’s something so beautiful about intentionally creating space in the middle of a wedding day to simply be together. No audience. No distractions. Just the two of them.
I even scouted out a quieter location so they could have that moment without a crowd around them, and it ended up being one of the sweetest parts of their day.
Afterward, they gathered with their closest family and friends for a small reception at Black Woods in Proctor. It was simple, beautiful, and completely them.
There were happy tears, so much laughter, heartfelt moments, and, of course, a very competitive bean bag tournament. 😂
Nothing about their day felt like it was done just because it was expected. Every part had meaning. Every person there mattered. And every moment felt like a reflection of who they are and what they value.
Getting to help plan and capture A+C’s day was such an honor. But more than anything, I loved simply being there to witness it all…the quiet moments, the big emotions, the little in-between moments, and all the love that surrounded them.
I’m so grateful they trusted me to preserve these memories for them. 🤍
